Kathy Griffin had a tough year in 2022, and 2023 isn’t looking much better. The aging comedienne made the mistake of messing with billionaire Elon Musk, which sent her career into a tailspin. After some legal woes and a little bit of begging, it looked like Griffin might be able to move on.
When she showed up for the Golden Globes, however, she learned that the seat she had occupied there for more than 30 years was no longer available.
“You’re not on the list,” an usher told her at the head of the red carpet, “I’m sorry. I recognize you. I know you’re usually here, but you’re not on the list.” As she stood there looking awkward, her colleagues walked past, sharing well wishes and offering her their pity.
It was truly a horrible moment for her. Finally, Production Manager Joe Barron came down personally and informed her that her membership was revoked and her seat given to Chloe Moretz.
Moretz, whose voice personified Wednesday Addams until they decided to go with the Latinx girl, gave Griffin a hug when she arrived in what seemed to be a very uncomfortable moment for both of them.
Barron offered no reason why she was booted from the show other than “You must have pissed off the wrong people.” Two guesses about who that might have been. Here’s a hint…his initials are Elon Musk. Sorry, Kathy, but it looks like you lost again.
